DENTON SUBSTATION is given a new lease of life

A substation distributing electricity to Denton, Greater Manchester has been given a new lease of life this week as part of Electricity North West’s ongoing million pound substation investment programme.

Electricity North West, the company that owns and maintains the local electricity network, spent the day cleaning up the substation on Fairview Road to ensure the site is well maintained in order to reduce the chances of fly tipping and metal theft.

“We have an ongoing maintenance programme to keep our substations clean and tidy and we endeavour to do our best to be a good neighbour for local residents,” said John Foy, civil engineering projects manager at Electricity North West.

“A resident contacted us through the MP’s office to ask us to trim back the hedges at the substation on Fairview Road, and after waiting for some nesting birds to vacate the hedges we were more than happy to oblige.

“Electricity North West is committed to ensuring that all substations in the North West are well maintained in order to combat vandalism and fly tipping which have a knock on affect on our customers. Our teams regularly visit substations across the North West to make sure that they are up to standard.”

Shadow health minister and Denton and Reddish MP, Andrew Gwynne, said:

“I’m delighted with the rapid response from Electricity North West to tidy up the site and I am pleased that they are being great neighbours to the local residents.

“If anyone has any issues relating to substations please contact Electricity North West or myself.”
