Andrew has congratulated Stuart Kirkham of The Hinds Head in Heaton Chapel, Stockport, who has been crowned the Regional Winner for Manchester & North Wales in the inaugural year of the Community Hero Awards, an initiative by Enterprise Inns.
Andrew recently visited The Hinds Head to congratulate Mr Kirkham and his team, and to learn more about the inspirational work they are doing in their community.
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
“I am very happy to be supporting this award. Local pubs play an important role in our local communities and I am thrilled that Mr Kirkham is receiving this award for all his hard work in helping others.”
The awards were created this year to honour Publicans who make inspiring contributions to their community.
Thanks to the tireless work of Mr Kirkham and his staff, The Hinds Head has been involved in numerous initiatives aimed at helping local causes. These include societies such as Friends of Manchester Road Park and charitable organisations such as Stockport Cerebral Palsy and Disability Stockport, who now use the pub for monthly meetings and various events.
On a wider scale, national schemes including F.A.B.L.E Charity and Cancer Research UK have also benefited from the team’s extensive fundraising endeavours.
The Hinds Head has also been instrumental in setting up two innovative work experience programmes to help children with learning difficulties and to introduce students from the local school to elements of business, contributing immensely to their personal development and future employability. Working closely with schools on several environmental projects means that The Hinds Head can leave a lasting legacy, and continue to see the effects of their hard work in years to come.
Each of the 18 Regional Winners have been awarded a fund of £5,000 to go towards community initiatives of their choice.
