Post Office Ltd has today announced the unexpected closure of Haughton Green Post Office. Post Office Ltd has stated that the closure is due to circumstances beyond their control and that they are making every effort to remedy this situation as quickly as possible.
Local MP, Andrew Gwynne, has expressed his concern at the sudden closure and has called on Post Office Ltd to put immediate temporary measures in place until the Haughton Green branch can be re-opened.
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
“I am extremely concerned to learn of the temporary closure of this vital community post office, which will cause a great deal of inconvenience to many of my constituents particularly in the run-up to Christmas.”
“Post Office Ltd has assured me that they are doing all they can to reinstate the service as soon as possible, but I have asked for immediate temporary measures to be put in place to maintain a service in Haughton Green village during this time.”
Councillor Claire Francis said:
“I too am deeply concerned about the closure of Haughton Green Post Office.
“Myself and my ward colleagues know what an important resource the Post Office is to the village and beyond. We will be working closely with Andrew Gwynne MP to ensure everything possible is done to reduce the inconvenience to residents of Haughton Green and that a service is reinstated as soon as possible”.
