Dukinfield Post Office is set to reopen in a new location, it has been announced, following the shock closure of the facility at 131 King Street last week.
Post Office Limited have worked tirelessly since then to find a suitable alternative location on King Street, after the old Post Office building was no-longer available for them to use. Dukinfield MP, Andrew Gwynne, had demanded urgent action to ensure local people were not left without a Post Office service in the King Street area. Now Post Office Limited have secured the use of a nearby shop, and all the new counters and equipment will be moved across in the coming weeks. It is expected the new Post Office on King Street will be opening by the end of May.
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
“I am delighted that Post Office Limited have listened to the concerns raised by myself and the local Councillors. It was a complete shock to all that the old Post Office building was no-longer available for them to use, but I am delighted that a new Post Office will be opening further down King Street. I realise the new facility won’t be open until May, but hopefully disruption will be kept to an absolute minimum for customers, and it is great news about the new extended service that will be available.”
The new Dukinfield Post Office will be open from the end of May at: Waz’s Convenience Store, 61 King Street, Dukinfield. Customers will also benefit from longer opening hours (Monday – Saturday 7am-8pm and on Sunday 8am-7pm) and an ATM Cash Machine is also being installed.
