Commenting on the consultations by Monitor and NHS England on new rules for the 2014/15 NHS payment system, Andrew Gwynne MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, said:
“Hospitals cannot conceivably lose half a billion in funding. Many are already struggling without enough staff and A&E departments have seen the worst year in a decade.
“The NHS has been pushed to the brink by David Cameron’s toxic mix of cuts and re-organisation. He promised to protect the NHS, but he’s taking it backwards.”
