MP LENDS SUPPORT to National Express partnership with The Post Office

NATIONAL EXPRESS - POST OFFICE TICKET - PORTCULLIS HOUSE LONDON - MP - RECEPTIONAndrew Gwynne MP this week showed his support for the launch of National Express and The Post Office’s unique new partnership delivering unbeatable convenience for residents in Tameside and Stockport branches.

Coach tickets will now be on sale at over 11,000 Post Office branches nationwide, including branches in Gwynne’s Denton and Reddish constituency.

The new partnership means National Express and Eurolines coach tickets can now be purchased at Post Office branches across the country. This allows customers to take advantage of affordable coach travel across the UK and Europe at the same time they buy a stamp, pay a bill or purchase travel money.

The move sets the wheels in motion for increased customer choice and is likely to be particularly welcomed by people including students and holidaymakers travelling abroad.

People in Tameside and Stockport simply need to provide their travel requirements at their local Post Office and they will be advised on journey details and best available fares before purchasing their ticket.

Approximately a third of all journeys taken with the UK’s largest coach operator are to airports. This new partnership will enable people to purchase coach travel straight to the airport terminal along with their travel insurance and foreign currency, saving the time and hassle of multiple transactions.

The partnership further strengthens the wide-ranging services already offered by the Post Office, increasing the variety of choices available to the tens of millions of customers who walk through its doors each year.

Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish said:

“The new partnership between National Express and the Post Office is great news for Tameside and Stockport, and for the Post Offices branches many residents rely on. Anything that increases the services on offer at our local Post Offices is good news for our community.”

Tom Stables, Managing Director UK Coach said:

“This is a partnership that quite literally opens doors across the UK and Europe for Post Office customers. It is remarkable people can now walk into Post Office branches UK-wide and take advantage of affordable coach travel offering access to destinations across the UK and Europe. We are all about increasing the options on offer for our customers and we hope this partnership makes it even more convenient for people to explore Britain and beyond.”

National Express provides Britain’s only scheduled national coach network, serving around 1,000 destinations. Approximately 17 million passenger journeys are taken each year across the UK, approximately a third of which are to airports.

Over 11,000 Post Office branches nationwide will be selling National Express coach tickets including London, Birmingham and Manchester high street branches.
