Mr Gwynne was out and about to show support for the Big Collection, a national event organised by Diabetes UK every year. He has known Mr Spires for three years, having met him at an event in Parliament in support of Diabetes UK.
There are currently 3.8 million people in the UK with diabetes, including an estimated 850,000 people who have Type 2 diabetes but do not know it.
Diabetes UK cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of all people affected by and at risk of diabetes, reaching people with diabetes in local communities across the UK. Over the weekend, the charity collected at more than 300 Tesco stores across the country.
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
“This mammoth effort gets more impressive every year, and I was delighted to be able to join Ashley at the Stockport collection and help out. I have come to Big Collection events before and they are always good fun.
“This might just be one part of a nationwide effort, but it is the time that people on the ground put in that adds up to Diabetes UK being able to make life a little easier for those that suffer from diabetes.”
