NEW £7m DOGS TRUST CENTRE in Denton is officially opened

Opening DogsTrustBBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin joined special guests, including Andrew Gwynne MP, this week at the opening of the new Dogs Trust’s rehoming centre which will care for around 1,000 dogs per year in Denton.

Dogs Trust Manchester is on Parkway, Denton, and was formerly a ‘Mypetstop’ hotel for dogs and cats.  The building has undergone a £7m revamp and now boasts air conditioned kennels, underfloor heating and a range of quirky exercise areas including a set of giant astroturf steps.

Andrew Gwynne MP said:

“The centre is incredibly advanced and even has water fountains for the guests to play in.  It will provide a stunning rehoming centre for the whole of Greater Manchester.”

Centre manager Dawn Bishop added:

“We’ve been so excited about finally opening the doors to Dogs Trust Manchester and now the time is here.

“We’ve all absolutely loved having Louise join us and I think it’s safe to say more than a few dogs won her over. Now it’s time for the dogs to work their charms on the rest of Manchester!”

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity which cares for around 17,000 mutts every year. Denton will be its 21st centre and the first in Greater Manchester.  The building also includes a cafe for visitors and the charity’s national contact centre which will deal with calls from the public.

Dogs Trust Manchester opens to the public at midday on Thursday and will be open between 12pm and 7.30pm on weekdays except Wednesdays and 10am to 4pm on weekends.

A Christmas fair to raise funds is on December 7 with a visit from Santa Paws.

Andrew Gwynne also entered a Dogs Trust rescue dog, Timmy (part-Pointer, part-Collie) in the annual Westminster Dog of the Year contest to help highlight the plight of dogs needing rehoming.  Now, Timmy has successfully been rehomed, but there are many more dogs in need of a loving environment to live and play in.
