GWYNNE JOINS SIR GERALD to open the new Fairfield Golf Clubhouse

Audenshaw MP Andrew Gwynne joined forces with Gorton’s Sir Gerald Kaufman to officially open the new Fairfield Golf clubhouse.

The Club holds a place in Tameside political history – nineteen years ago, three Labour Councillors voted to stop the Kingswater Park industrial development at a Tameside Council meeting. The development would have forever destroyed the area the club sits on.

One of those ‘Kingswater Three’ Councillors, the newly elected Councillor for Denton West, eventually became Andrew Gwynne MP.

Andrew Gwynne MP said:

“I’d like to congratulate Dave Leonard and the Club Committee who jumped the many planning hurdles alongside the Councillors and Gerald Kaufman and the then Denton and Reddish MP, Andrew Bennett.

“The new facility is truly amazing, and a tribute to all the hard work and battles we’ve fought along the way!”
