Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, recently met up with Bookstart Bear as part of the World Book Day celebrations.
Bookstart Bear has been touring libraries in Tameside to promote the opportunities libraries create to encourage reading amongst the under 5s.
Bookstart Bear was celebrating World Book Day and every child who attended the events got a free £1 book token, and library members also got a free Bookstart Bear Reading Adventures book.
Andrew first met Bookstart Bear at Dukinfield Library and agreed to take him to London, where he was shown around the grand Members’ Library in the House of Commons, overlooking the Thames.
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
“Bookstart is a fantastic scheme, which encourages parents to share books with babies and young children, so I was delighted to help Bookstart Bear promote World Book Day events in my constituency.
“It was wonderful to be able to show Bookstart Bear around the House of Commons Library, and I hope he enjoyed his Big Reading Adventure!”
