Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, is to abseil down Ashton IKEA to raise funds for the Friends of Tameside Young Carers.
The local charity, which was founded in 2007, gives extra support to those children and young people who look after family members to help them get on with activities that are usually seen as part of normal childhood.
The MP took part in a similar abseil several months ago down Stopford House in Stockport, raising more than £2,000 for Stockport Young Carers.
His next abseil will take place on the morning of September 3rd.
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
“I am terrified of heights, so to abseil down Stockport’s Stopford House a few months ago was absolutely terrifying – but I raised several thousand pounds for a great cause, so I have been persuaded to do it all over again.
“This local charity does absolutely amazing work for local children and young people who need that extra bit of help to do the things that everybody else takes for granted.
“I urge you to go on my fundraising page and throw in whatever you can afford.”
