Andrew Gwynne MP attended a fundraising event held at the Tesco Extra, Portwood, on 18 September where he helped local constituents and volunteers collect for the charity, Diabetes UK.
The Tesco Big Collection ran from 16–17 September with the aim of raising £355,000 across 500 stores. All proceeds raised went towards funding the vital work of Diabetes UK and The British Heart Foundation.
The event was a great success and over the course of a few days everyone contributed to raising a fantastic £802.34.
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
“It was a great privilege to help contribute towards such a worthwhile campaign.
“I was pleased to see so many members of the community giving up their time to do their bit in raising money and awareness in fighting diabetes. Several constituents, including one of the Team Leaders, Ashley Spires were a great inspiration; he and his family do such a good job of campaigning, raising awareness and fundraising for this charity.”
The event was held in conjecture with Tesco’s Big Collection. To find out more, email bigcollection@Tescocharitypartnership.org.uk, or ring them on 0207 424 1190
