Over Christmas and New Year I’ll be taking some time to reflect a little on 2016, and I hope that you find some time to spend with friends and family doing likewise.
One of the most enjoyable parts of being an MP at Christmas is the opportunity to visit schools and community groups celebrating with pantomimes and nativity plays. All of the productions I was fortunate enough to see are special in their own way especially for families watching their own children perform.
I have been personally touched by the countless acts of kindness and generosity by so many charities and volunteers this year. Constituents from across Denton and Reddish have given up their time and money to help those less fortunate with St Mary’s food bank in Haughton Green, and Re:dish in Reddish, a particular good news story.
I would also like to take this opportunity to express gratitude to all those who serve in the Armed Forces, particularly those who are unable to be with their loved ones over the festive season, and to our emergency services – who I visited today – who continue to work at a time when most of us are enjoying ourselves with our family and friends.
My very best wishes to you for a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
