Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, is today joining the National Lottery in wishing ‘Good Luck’ to Paralympic athletes ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Paralympic athletes are following on from a momentous Olympic Games, in which Team GB secured 65 medals overall in a barnstorming performance.
With Paralympic stars such as Jonnie Peacock and Jordanne Whiley vying for Gold medals this year, it promises to be a thrilling competition.
An estimated 4,350 athletes from 160 countries will take part in 539 events across 22 sports in 21 venues. The Games will start on the 24th August and run through until Sunday 5th September.
Ahead of the Paralympic Games, Andrew Gwynne said:
“I’d like to join the whole country in wishing the best of luck to Paralympic athletes in Tokyo next week. I have no doubt that Team GB are going to have a fantastic games, and that is all down to the tremendous hard work that athletes across the country have put in.
The last year and a half has been tough, and it’s fantastic to see massive sporting events like the Paralympic games bringing us all together.
