Andrew Gwynne MP has greeted children from all ten primary Schools in Denton as they handed over the Denton Schools ‘Olympic Torch’ to him on the steps of Denton Town Hall.

Denton schools had organised cross-school working to promote the Olympics and sport in general. Representatives from all ten primary schools in Denton – Corrie, Dane Bank, Greswell, Linden Road, Manor Green, Russell Scott, St Anne’s, St John Fisher, St Mary’s and Denton West End – carried the Olympic Torch between the schools and at the end of the last leg from Russell Scott Primary School, Andrew met with ambassadors from each school on Denton Town Hall steps to formally receive the Torch.

Andrew Gwynne MP said:

“I have been really delighted to be asked to receive the ”Denton School Olympics Torch” from the Ambassadors from all ten local Primary Schools. I am thrilled that there is so much excitement about the London 2012 Olympics Games in Denton and I hope it will inspire a new generation to participate in sports.”
