Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, is supporting his constituent’s efforts to help feed her colleagues working on the frontline in the NHS during the Coronavirus outbreak.
The constituent, Sarah Haddow, is a theatre nurse at the Manchester Foundation Trust who lives in Denton. Whilst she is normally on the frontline herself, she has been forced to self-isolate as she is in a high risk group.
Knowing the pressure that her colleagues are under – short on numbers and working long shifts, often just grabbing whatever food is going – she has decided to cook home made food to be delivered to them.
She has set up a Just Giving page looking for £50 and in less than a day she has already raised well over £500. The food will be delivered daily and Sarah is looking to get food containers to help transport the food to the hospital.
Andrew Gwynne said:
“The Coronavirus outbreak is a very difficult time for everybody, but it has highlighted once again the debt of gratitude that we owe our fantastic NHS workers.
“Sarah Haddow is such a brilliant example of the amazing people who work in our NHS – unable to work on the frontline herself during this period, she is still getting involved and helping her colleagues.
“I’d encourage all my constituents to help Sarah in this task and would particularly ask local takeaways to consider donating any spare food containers to her so that she can deliver food to the brilliant NHS workers at the Manchester Foundation Trust.”
