Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, joined pupils at Denton West End Primary last Friday to celebrate UK Parliament Week.

UK Parliament Week, an annual event, is designed to raise awareness of the role of Parliament and democracy, how it impacts local communities, and how young people in particular can get involved and shape their area.

Gwynne joined pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2 for an assembly and took a wide array of interesting questions.

Gwynne said:

“It was fantastic to meet such an engaged group of students at Denton West End Primary, who were an absolute credit to their school community.

“I took some fantastic questions on my role as an MP, elections, the legislative process, the monarchy, and Guy Fawkes.

“Ensuring young people are engaged in politics from an early age is vital to a healthy democratic society, and with the astuteness of the pupils, I’m sure some of them will be on the green benches before long!”
