Andrew Gwynne MP and Lord Pendry of Stalybridge joined members of Denton Town FC to officially open the club’s newly refurbished clubhouse.

The project was made possible thanks to a £17,500 grant from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the largest funders of non-league football in the country.

Funding from the FSIF has enabled Denton Town FC to completely rebuild their old clubhouse. The refurbished building now incorporates modern changing rooms, a new lounge area, heating system and toilet facilities with disabled access for spectators.

The club can now provide a safe and comfortable environment for future generations of local players and also a clubroom that can be used by community groups and organisations. Denton Town FC’s committee will be looking to make further improvements to the club’s facilities in order to maintain the club as a source of pride for the Denton community and attract more local participants.

Dave Starkie, Secretary and Vice Chairman, Denton Town FC, said:

“Thanks to the funding from the FSIF, this project has gone from a pipe dream to reality in a few short months. Without their help and assistance, the club would have ceased to exist due to the extent of the damage of our old clubhouse.

“After initial worries about the team being unable to start the season due to lack of facilities, we are now in a position where we can welcome teams and spectators to a brand new facility that the whole community can be proud of.”

Andrew Gwynne MP said:

“It was a real honour to visit Denton Town FC to celebrate the completion of refurbishment works at their clubhouse. The new facility will be an excellent resource for both local grassroots football and community to use for many years to come.

“I am very grateful to the FSIF for their investment into my constituency and to the members of Denton Town FC who have worked so hard to make this project a reality.”
