Andrew Gwynne MP has lent his support to the Coffee is Life appeal by Farm Africa. The campaign aims to raise funds to help the charity work with farmers in Western Africa to develop profitable businesses. Any donations made by May 8 will be matched by UK Aid.
The Ugandan economy is powered by Coffee – but Ugandan women and young people are finding it difficult to start a career in one of the country’s most profitable sectors.
Women provide the bulk of low paid labour but limited access to land, finance and information about the industry is stopping young people and women from taking on leadership roles within the industry.
Andrew Gwynne said:
Coffee is Life, is a project that, with support from UK aid, will help women farmers in Kanungu, Uganda to grow more coffee, sell more coffee and earn a fair share of the profit from coffee production.
Making a donation today could change someone’s life, and if you give before 8 May 2019, your donation will be matched by the UK government.”
