Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, has encouraged local charities, businesses and individuals to take part in Giving Tuesday on Tuesday 3 December.
The Giving Tuesday campaign is a global day of giving run in the UK by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) which holds the world record for the most amount of money raised online in 24 hours. CAF’s aim is to help as many charities as possible to make the most out of the day and celebrate the causes we all care about.
CAF’s research has shown that nearly everyone thinks it is important that people help others and most believe that charities have an important role in society.
Gwynne visited the CAF stand at the Labour Party Conference last week to hear about the essential role that charities play in bringing communities together.
Andrew Gwynne said:
“It was great to catch up with the Charities Aid Foundation at Party Conference. Charities play a vital role in British society and I work closely with a variety of charities that help and support people in Denton and Reddish and beyond.
“Unfortunately, I heard from CAF that we are currently seeing fewer people giving to charity and we discussed various ways that people can get involved with their favourite charity.
“One great way that charities can promote the fantastic work they do is through Giving Tuesday, and I’d encourage constituents – as well as local charities and businesses to take part in December.”
