Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, is encouraging residents across Denton and Reddish to get involved in UK Parliament Week, taking place from the 14 – 20 November this week.

UK Parliament week is an annual initiative which aims to get people engaged in how Parliament works. Participants who express interest will receive a free kit packed with an activity booklet, a ballot box and more.

Once received, you can pick and choose from the options to tailor your UK Parliament Week activity to suit whatever time you have available and age groups you’re working with.

Last week, more than 1.1 million people took part in the initiative, with local schools, community groups and clubs setting up quizzes, themed assemblies and Q&As with MPs.

Gwynne, a long time supporter of UK Parliament Week, said:

“I’m always proud to support UK Parliament Week. Whenever I show young people around Parliament, I always remind them that Parliament exists to represent people, and whatever work goes on in Westminster is their business.

This is why it’s so important that we get people engaged. It’s vital for a functioning democracy, and means that we make Parliament more accessible and more representative.

I’d encourage any local schools or youth leaders to get involved with UK Parliament Week.”
