Denton & Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne has today appealed to Post Office bosses to ensure an ATM is re-installed at Haughton Green Post Office.
The Post Office ATM was rendered inoperable after an attack in July leaving residents in Haughton Green village struggling to access financial services. There had been some resistance since the attack to the ATM going back in and there was a suggestion that the facility may be lost.
Andrew Gwynne said:
“Haughton Green is an area of real financial exclusion and this ATM was a lifeline for many local residents.
“I called on post office bosses to liaise with the postmaster and I understand that discussions are now on-going with operator the Bank of Ireland to get an operational ATM back in the post office.
“I trust this work will now progress, but the bottom line for me is that there needs to be an ATM serving the residents of Haughton Green village”
