Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, is encouraging businesses and individuals who create online content to consider how to make resources accessible to deaf children and young people.
There are more than 50,000 deaf children and young people in the UK, and four more babies are born deaf every day. A lot of online content has not been produced in a way that is accessible to them.
The National Deaf Children’s Society have produced a useful guide for how organisations can make their resources accessible to deaf children and young people.
Andrew Gwynne said:
“Children are increasingly living in an online world, particularly during the pandemic when most are learning from home.
“Unfortunately, many resources for children and young people aren’t accessible to those who are deaf.
“I’d encourage anyone producing online content for children to take a look at this really helpful guide, which gives simple tips to make resources more accessible.”
