Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, has today encouraged local residents to register to vote ahead of National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) on the 14th April 2022.
NVRD is the last day that people can register to vote in the upcoming Local Elections, which are taking place on the 5th of May.
Organised by the charity My Life My Say, NVRD aims to encourage democratic participation in local, regional, and national elections. Voter participation has been in decline over the last five years, and recent statistics show that less than half of young people in the UK are engaging in the voting process.

Commenting, Andrew Gwynne said:
“Irrespective of political differences, one thing we can all agree on is the importance of getting out their and voting.
By voting, you ensure that your voice is heard, and that your priorities are represented in political decision making.
I’m proud to be backing National Voter Registration Day and would encourage everyone who hasn’t yet registered to vote, to do so before the deadline on the 14th of April. It takes five minutes and makes a real difference.”
