Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, has shown his support for Macmillan’s Coffee Morning and urged residents to get involved.

Macmillan’s Coffee Morning is the charity’s biggest fundraising event to support people living with cancer. People all over the UK join in to host their own Coffee Morning, with donations raised on the day donated directly to Macmillan.

The Coffee Morning itself can be whatever you want it to be. It could be at home, on your driveway, a hall or online. You can hold hold a garden get together and throw a barbecue, or treat your colleagues to some homemade bakes, or even get together with friends for a takeaway. Last year, Macmillan raised more that £12m pounds.

Gwynne, a long-time supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support, recently attended a Parliamentary event, where he urged the Government to do more to tackle spiralling cancer waiting times.

Commenting, Andrew Gwynne said:

“Macmillan’s Coffee Mornings are an incredible way to raise money for a charity that is incredibly close to my heart.

“If you’re not already involved, I’d encourage you to attend a Coffee Morning – or even set up one of your own!

“We need to see urgent action to drive down waiting times, rapidly expand the NHS workforce and build an NHS and social care system that is fit for the future.”

The official date of Coffee Morning is Friday 29 September, but this doesn’t mean you can’t host at other times of the year! To host or find a Macmillan Coffee event near you click here.
