Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, is thanking community pharmacies for their exceptional work in the fight against COVID-19.
In the fight against COVID-19, community pharmacies are going above and beyond to ensure that medicines are readily available for those who need them. Right now, community pharmacies are actually exceeding the demands of their patients, working extra hours and providing face-to-face care in order to do so. Not only are community pharmacies expanding their services, but they are also prioritising their services which are vital.
The exceptional work of community pharmacies is being carried on in the face of unprecedented demand, financial pressure, increasing reports of abuse and low staffing numbers.
To support community pharmacies, additional Government funding, priority COVID-19 testing, responsible action from members of the public and sufficient supplies of Personal Protective Equipment are needed.
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
“Right now, community pharmacies are doing exceptional work in the fight against COVID-19 and I thank them for their service.
“It is great news that community pharmacies are exceeding the demands of their patients, meaning that there is no need for any of my constituents to stockpile their medicines.
“To support our community pharmacies, the least we can do is be courteous, patient and understanding when we require their services, and call for better testing, better protection and better funding from the Government for the sector.”
