Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish and Labour’s Shadow Public Health Minister, has written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care urging him to expedite the rollout of the lifesaving drug Evusheld.

Evusheld is a pre-exposure prophylaxis designed to protect those who are acutely vulnerable to Covid-19. Despite the drug being approved for use in the United Kingdom in March 2022, the Government has still not implemented a programme for rollout.

In a letter co-signed by Gwynne and Shadow Minister for Disabled People Vicky Foxcroft, Gwynne criticised the lack of urgency from the Government, and urged them to “provide an urgent update on the rollout of Evusheld, outlining a timeline for deployment”.
