Andrew Gwynne MP has launched a campaign to elect Jude, the Gwynne family cat, as the official Purr Minister.
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has launched a general election to find the leader of the nation’s cats. MPs and Lords nominated their cats, and a shortlist was drawn up.
Jude was fished out of the Cheshire Ring Canal at five weeks old, and soon joined the Gwynne household.
Jude’s manifursto includes:
· Cutting your heating bills because he’ll keep you warm
· Redistribution. Your food is his food
· Free swimming lessons for all kittens, to survive being dumped in a canal
Andrew Gwynne MP said:
‘We found Jude in the canal when he was five weeks old, and since then he has landed on his paws in the Gwynne household.
‘His story is the stuff of Hollywood, and we think he can feel the paw of history on his shoulder. With a flashy vote-winning smile and a tendency to get his own way, we hope Greater Manchester and the whole of the North West will get behind Jude’s bid for greatness.
‘Head to the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home website to back Jude, and make sure you follow his campaign and retweet him on twitter at @GwynneCat!
’There is a serious side to this campaign. Jude’s own background – having been abandoned in a canal – highlights the need to support Battersea, who are running this campaign, and local animal shelters who do incredible work here in Greater Manchester.’
