Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, joined pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School last Friday to celebrate UK Parliament Week.

UK Parliament Week, an annual event, is designed to raise awareness of the role of Parliament and democracy, how it impacts local communities, and how young people in particular can get involved and shape their area.

Gwynne joined a Q&A with pupils from across the school, as well as holding a meeting with school councillors.

Gwynne said:

“It was fantastic to meet such an engaged group of students at St Joseph’s, who were an absolute credit to their school community.

“I took some fantastic questions on a whole range of issues about my work both in Westminster, and here in the local community.

“Ensuring young people are engaged in politics from an early age is vital to a healthy democratic society, and with the knowledge shown off by pupils at St Joseph’s, I’m sure some of them will be on the green benches before long!”
